Planningguide
Plan your work—solo or small team—with tasks and the agent. Suggest scope, balance workload, and apply changes from the action dock.
Before you start
- Have a backlog of tasks (or create some).
- Connect tasks to teams for better organization.
- Set assignees and estimates if you track workload.
- Define workflow statuses that match your process.
Step-by-step
Build your backlog
Create tasks from ideas, bugs, or requests. Assign to teams, set statuses, and add labels. Use the Mutate agent to create tasks from chat: "Create a task for fixing the login bug, high priority."
Organize by team
Connect tasks to teams so work is grouped and visible. Use the Default agent to list tasks by team and see what's in each backlog.
Use the agent to plan
In chat, ask the Plan agent to suggest scope based on workload, capacity, and priorities. It queues changes for you to apply from the action dock. You stay in control while moving fast.
Track and iterate
Move tasks through workflow statuses. Use Default to check status: "What's in progress?" or "Show my tasks." Close work, review, and plan the next cycle.
Frequently asked questions
Can I plan work from chat?
Yes. The Plan agent can analyze workload, suggest scope, and queue updates. You apply changes from the action dock so nothing is created or updated without your approval.
How do teams help with planning?
Tasks are connected to teams so you can filter and report. One team for yourself gives you a clear backlog and workload view; add more teams when you have separate projects or work with others.
What happens when work is done?
Complete tasks and move them through your workflow. Use Default to review results and Plan to suggest the next cycle based on capacity and priorities.
Common pitfalls
- Overcommitting: use workload and capacity views to set realistic scope.
- Unclear scope: decide priorities before starting so you (and anyone else) know what's in.
- Skipping updates: keep statuses current so you have a clear picture—and others do too if you're not solo.
- Ignoring blockers: check progress regularly to spot issues early.
